This project is part of a Human Rights and Decent Work (HRDW) pilot that aims to advance decent work practices within the sugarcane value chains by equipping key stakeholders with knowledge and tools to create more equitable and sustainable working conditions.
Multi-stakeholder Training on Decent Work Practices in the Sugarcane Value Chains of Maharashtra (2024-2025)
Key objectives of the project:
- Develop and deliver tailored training materials to foster awareness and understanding of decent working conditions among key stakeholders.
- Sensitize stakeholders to the critical role that decent work practices play in driving economic and social development within the sugarcane sector.
Our engagement plan includes the following target Groups for implementing decent work practices effectively in agricultural labor settings:
- Mill/Factory Level: mill management staff
- Farm Level: H&T (Harvest and Transport) Gang Leads and Program Field Staff
Key Milestone: In July 2024, we participated in the launch of the Coalition for Responsible Sugarcane India, reinforcing our commitment to enhancing workers’ access to decent work practices in the sugarcane industry.
This initiative is a collaboration between Change Alliance and Solidaridad, contributing to a more equitable future for workers while promoting sustainable business practices in the sugarcane sector.
